What is CBD?

What is the fuss all about?

We think it is incredibly important that you know what you are putting into your body, so we want to be as clear with you as possible with our products. CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol, which is one of two main cannabinoids found in the Cannabis and Hemp plants.

Cannabinoids have received an infamous reputation due to CBD’s counterpart, Tetrahydrocannabinolor THC. However, CBD is not psychoactive: this means that unlike THC, ingesting CBD won’t get you ‘high’, meaning the benefits of the plant can be extracted without the negative side effects that THC causes.

As there is no high, CBD is becoming increasingly popular for a multitude of reasons, and the benefits CBD can bring filter into many aspects of users’ lives. For example, users’ reported that it helped support a healthy lifestyle.

How does it work?

In all our bodies there is a system known as the Endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for many physiological and cognitive processes. Research has found that CBD seems to inhibit an enzyme responsible for breaking down a key endocannabinoid, known as anandamide.

By introducing CBD into the body, anandamide stays around for longer in the body before being metabolised. Therefore, a regular intake of CBD can support and help to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
